Indian Head Massage has been practised in India for over a thousand years. It was originally used as a technique to keep long thick hair healthy and in a beautiful condition. The treatment involves relaxing movements of the upper back, upper arms, shoulders, neck, head and face; helping to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life.
The scalp is massaged with various
nourishing oils, (eg coconut or almond) which is believed to improve
the texture of the hair and scalp. Due to the increase in
circulation from the massage movements, the base of the hair follicles
are nourished.
The skin on the shoulders, neck and
arems can be massaged with various medius depending on your skin type
and preference, (eg oil, cream, talc). Another alternative would
be to utilise the skin's natural ability to produce its own natural
secretions which are producesd as the skin is timulated (i.e.
sebum). Pre-blended aromatherapy oil is also used to have an
uplifting or relaxing effect.
